Kids4 April Excitement

By Kris Gifford

Date Posted 3/28/2021

Kids4 is gearing up for a four-month service-learning opportunity starting in April! Each month in this series (April, May, June, & July) will feature a different local author (and children’s book from a local bookstore!), a local community-service project, and a chance to be together digitally as well as in person.
Here’s what we are planning for April:
Week of April 4 (and ongoing through month) April Kids4 Kits can be requested via the website. You will be contacted about cost as well as delivery after requesting. Our featured book and author will be The Most Beautiful Thing in the World by Kao Kalia Yang. Our featured service project will involve serving seniors in our community by creating cards and placemats for Meals on Wheels. If you participated in one of our former projects, we are working to make activities suitable for a wider age range (particularly, preschool-6th grade).
Friday, April 30, 4:00-- Meet Kao Kalia Yang! Children will have the chance to hear Kalia read the children’s book and will be able to ask her questions about being an author and about Hmong culture. This event will take place over Zoom.
Saturday, May 1, 11:30--Picnic in the Park--We’d love to see you in Becker Park (5530 Douglas Dr. N, Crystal) for a picnic, service celebration, and opportunity to drop-off April kit supplies and grab May’s project.
We will send a link when registration is available for April projects! Thanks for staying tuned! If you know of families that would be interested in joining us, feel free to pass along their email, and we can add to our mailing list!
